Media wall guide

TV and fire sizes for a media wall.

Every opening in a media wall is sized round the TV and the fire, so choose them before anything is made. Here are our TV opening sizes and what to check for the fire, soundbar and boxes.

TV openings

Opening sizes for our TV cabinets.

ScreenOpening for the TV, H × W mm
43″680 × 1100
50″770 × 1250
55″830 × 1360
60″890 × 1470
65″950 × 1580
70″1020 × 1690
75″1080 × 1820
80″1140 × 1910
85″1200 × 2030

Each opening is a typical TV body plus about 5cm all round, so the set can be lifted in and out. TV cabinets are 320mm deep. Send us your TV model and we check it fits.

The TV

Screen size and height.

  • Size: a bigger screen needs a wider wall. Check the opening plus the units either side fits your wall width.
  • Height: the screen is most comfortable with its centre near your eye level when you sit down, often around 1m from the floor. Check it from your own sofa.
  • Above a fire: a TV over a fire sits higher than ideal, so check the fire maker's guidance on clearance above it and how high you are happy to look.

The fire

Choosing an electric fire.

Send us the make and model. The maker's instructions give the opening size, any gaps needed for air, and where the power must go, and the housing is built to suit. Fire housing top shelves and TV mounting back panels are made to the fire and screen you choose.

Soundbar and boxes

Room for everything else.

  • Soundbar: on a shelf below the TV, or on a bracket. Give us its width and height.
  • Boxes and consoles: set-top box, games console, router. Give us their sizes so the shelf heights suit them.
  • Remote controls: most need a line of sight, so avoid solid doors in front of boxes, or use a remote repeater.
  • Air: boxes, consoles and amplifiers get warm, so leave gaps or vents in the cabinets they sit in.

Checklist

TV and fire checklist.

  • TV chosen, with model number
  • TV height checked from the sofa
  • Electric fire chosen, with its installation instructions
  • Soundbar, boxes and console sizes noted
  • Wall width checked against the TV opening and units
