Wall panel guide

How a wall panelling project works, step by step.

Grooved, reeded and fluted MDF panels turn a plain wall into a feature. We machine them on our CNC in Long Eaton, ready to prime and paint. This guide walks through each stage and who does it.

Workshop CNC nested sheet

The stages

Nine stages from plain wall to painted panelling.

Stage 1

Choose the look

Grooved, reeded or fluted, the board thickness, and full or half height. See choosing a profile, board and finish.

Stage 2

Measure the wall

Width at the bottom, middle and top, the height you want, and the sockets, switches, windows and radiators.

Stage 3

Sheets or cut sizes

Order full sheets for your joiner to cut on site, or send a drawing or cutting list and we cut every panel to fit.

Stage 4

Quote

A written quote, line by line, in pounds ex VAT, usually within 2 working days.

Stage 5

We make it

Machined on our CNC in Long Eaton within 7 days, then sanded and checked by hand against your list.

Stage 6

Collect or delivery

Stage 7

Let them settle

Leave the panels in the room for a day or two before fitting.

Stage 8

Fit

Your joiner fixes the panels to the wall and cuts round sockets, switches and windows.

Stage 9

Fill, prime and paint

Fill the fixing holes, caulk the joints and edges, seal cut edges, then an MDF primer and your top coats.
