You can now order floating shelves through our cut and edge form. Make a part a floating shelf and we drill and rout its back edge on our CNC for Häfele concealed shelf brackets, so the shelf fixes to the wall with nothing showing underneath.

How it works
- Add the shelf to your cutting list on a board at least 25 mm thick, such as one of our 36 mm double boards
- Open the part’s Edit panel and tick Floating shelf
- The form works out the brackets from the shelf’s length: 100 mm in from each end and never more than 700 mm apart, so a 1 m shelf gets three
- The brackets go in the back edge (L2). For each one we drill a Ø12 mm hole 103 mm deep and rout a 72 × 22 mm recess 12 mm deep for its wall plate
- The brackets are added to Extras & hardware for you, and their positions show on your layout and your PDF cut plan
Sizes and loads
Floating shelves need to be 150 to 300 mm deep and at least 300 mm long. How much a shelf can carry depends on its depth. These are Häfele’s figures, with the weight spread evenly:
- 175 mm deep: up to 180 kg/m²
- 200 mm deep: up to 160 kg/m²
- 225 mm deep: up to 130 kg/m²
- 250 mm deep: up to 100 kg/m²
- 275 mm deep: up to 80 kg/m²
- 300 mm deep: up to 50 kg/m²
So a 1 m × 250 mm shelf (0.25 m²) carries up to 25 kg. The form shows the figure for each shelf as you type its size.
The brackets
Häfele 283.33.904 concealed shelf supports: a Ø12 × 110 mm galvanised steel pin on a wall plate, with a plastic sleeve. Slots in the plate set the height and two screws set the tilt. They suit wood or masonry walls.
Wall fixings aren’t included. Each plate takes Ø5 mm screws (Hospa Ø5.0), with wall plugs in masonry, and you can add both under Extras & hardware. A floating shelf can’t also have hinge holes, and its back edge can’t be mitred. Log in to see the routing and bracket prices as you go.
